cupid, draw back your bow...

So, we should talk about that Valentine's Day.

It's just that it's sort of meh in my book, as far as holidays go, you know?  I was the single every... single... Valentine's Day sort a single girl.  It's put just a little scrooge in my soul, I think, for that awkwardish day.

Which in no way means I won't be planning a little sweet heart picnic for my little sweet hearts, or that I didn't just pick up an elephant sized box of red and pink heart shaped fruit snacks for a classroom full of fourth graders.  But it does kinda sorta make the pinned to practically bursting, Pinterest board I've dedicated to it seem all sorts of silly.

But still.  In truth, I am such a ridiculously hopeless romantic who thinks a day dedicated to sweet amour a great testament to our good intentions as silly little bumbling creatures.  We trip, we fall... hard, we hurt each other... pretty darn bad, and still we reach outwards with an innate need to share this trip on life's merry-go-round with that one special someone.

It's hopeless.  And romantic.  Be mine?

I give you a few of my fave pins, and by fave I mean they're not gonna one: break the bank, we're living in paradise here, and paradise is no sort of cheap, two: get you all kinds of stressed out these three days before Valentine's day and most importantly, four: won't have you thrusting your handmade heart at your significant other with a "so... whaddya get ME?, it'd better be good, mister" sort of exhausted determination.  'Cause really, love is so much more than a little over priced Whitman's Sampler carrying Snoopy Doll totem.

(Truth: I am no hater of Snoopy or a good chocolate sampler, Charlie.  'Just saying. )

Hearts on a Stick by: Rebecca Cooper

A collection of hearts on sticks with little love notes, genius.  And so doable with recycled paper scraps.  Junk mail pile, here, I, come...

A Kiss in Your Pocket by: KATIE SOKOLER

This sweet little flip book slips your kisses into their pocket. Maybe we should, you know, all sigh together, on cue... Sigh. Sweet. Sweet. Sighs.

Valentine's Day Kisses by: LINDA, CRAFTAHOLICS ANONYMOUS

One bag of Hershey's kisses.  Twenty tooth picks with paper hearts haphazardly affixed.  One Valentine's Day class party in the bag.  (And also, a possible field trip to the health room to remove toothpicks lodged in places kids will find to lodge them.  Our job is done.)

Kiss Me Pins: MAYDAE

I'm not even sure what one would do with these, and I'd hate to have my Tyty passing these out to all of the girls in class.  They might, you know, get the wrong idea, or the right one, or something, I can't be sure.  But geesh, they sure are cute.    And we could so sharpie all sorts of cuteness on these pins couldn't we?  Someone, quick find us a good reason for these cuties.

Donut Cake by: SPRINKLE BAKES

Oh these sweet little boys of mine are such lovers of powdered donuts.  What is it about that fine sugar dust on sticky little fingers?  This we'll do, for sure.  I think.  They'd just love  to wake up to this Valentine's Day morn and it'd just smear their whole little lovin' day with love.  And sugar.  But, mostly love.  And also, sugar.

Is Valentine's Day a big huge deal in your house?  Do you have a favorite tradition or a new special something you're looking forward to trying out?

xoxo,
n

One is the loneliest number, or not, here.
A sweet pea of a song, here.

Completely inappropriate Valentine's fun, here.
(See how I put a little space between it and the rest of the links?  Inappropriate.  So completely.  Fun.)

  2. You captured exactly how I feel about Valentine's Day. It's "meh". Although, this year I am trying. I am a huge fan of Rebecca Cooper.

    1. Isn't it just the silliest feel really "mushy gushy wonderful in love" or not, sort of day. Although I'm a big huge sucker for love. I'll do anything for love, love, love... and also donuts.

      =)
