You know what all the smart cool people do on the first day of hurricane season? They check their emergency supplies for things like flashlights and batteries and non perishable food.
It's a good thing we're okay with not being the very coolest or the very smartest of people, right? Oh, we checked a few things, for sure.
For example we checked ourselves in to a room at the North Shore's famed Turtle Bay Resort.
And we checked out the surf
And the pool.
We checked out the Surfer Bar, where John Cruz was playing-- okay, we didn't quite make it inside the twenty-one and older hot spot where Jack Johnson sometimes drops in 'cause he lives down the street, don't ya know?-- but we did splurge and order TinTin for the boys and snuggled under the down comforters which is almost as cool, right?
We definitely checked out the pineapple banana bread from the coffee bar.
I checked out a book I had been meaning to read, really since like the sixth grade and I checked out a chaise lounge poolside so I could read it in the glorious sun.
And then we checked back out and headed to our sweet little home, which I have to tell ya does not have room service, movies on demand, surfers giving surfing lessons or water slides-- oh, the water slide... we will miss you and all your slippery glory.
Start summer off right-- check!
live sweet,

How awesome is that?! Looks like you guys had so much fun!! They really fixed up Turtle Bay since I was last there!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm... Turtle Bay when I was in high school was a bring your cooler and pile in to the room kind of a place. They really have put a lot in to it, unfortunately the prices reflect that, but really it's so darn beautiful there just naturally that I don't think it required much.
DeleteYou must go visit for a day or a weekend, your Alaka'i would love it. It's like being on a neighbor isle without the hassle of a plane ride.
Aloha,
N
Very beautiful there! Stopping by to follow you back. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining the ride! Here's to a summer full of adventure!
Deletexoxo
Sounds like an amazing check in and check out! Jack Johnson really!! My daughter and I love Jack Johnson! Super jealous you were in turtle bay I would kill to see a sea turtle up close! Snap a shot for me next time you pass one! Hope you have a Terric week full of sun, surf, and lots of Smiles!!! Aloha!
ReplyDeleteOH, Jack's house is a bit of a hop skip and a jump from here but still on the North Shore. WHEN you come to Hawaii there is a beach along the road to the north shore where sea turtles love to play and nap and get photographed by tourists and locals who play tourists on the weekends. You'll have to stop there and soak up there sweet energy-- in the meantime I will snap a shot of every turtle I can find, just for you.

Pineapple bread? Ok I'm looking up recipes for that tonight!
ReplyDeleteSeriously so yum, so moist and yum. =)
DeleteAnd what camera do you use for underwater? Looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm looking up the camera 'cause I have the attention span of a gnat and so I don't always know what I'm grabbing, I just grab and shoot... Fuji XP it says it's water/ shock/ dust and freeze proof. We're loving the ease of having it and the underwater pics are great.
DeleteOh I love Turtle Bay! Lovely underwater shot! Joining you from Our footprints
ReplyDeleteIsn't it the very sweetest of spots?
