The house that Jack built.
And just a teensy tinsy bit of
housekeeping.
There are a few
silly things that I get, well silly about. And Coastal Living Magazine is
one of them.
You know I didn't always love living on
the coast, I thought I was bound for a loft in NYC destined to gracefully float
along the streams of people, to lazily oh so quickly, and
still not fast enough for the "New York minute" crowds, gaze at my
reflection in the glass storefront windows and to sun bathe on the rooftops of
old buildings high above the hustle and bustle and soot of the congested living
below. But, alas, I have only just once this lifetime been to New York
City and that little taste of the city left me wanting so much more, perhaps I
will stay and enjoy a full course meal of city life next time I happen upon
those streets. Until then...
Coastal Living Magazine has helped me
to fall in love with our coastal home. I really do find myself greedily
ripping off the thinnest of thin plastic sheets that protects the glossy pages
as they make their trans pacific way to our little mailbox in the sweet
Hawaiian country. And you guys I have never been disappointed.
Never, ever. Ever. There's always a recipe or two or three to drool over,
a sneak peek in to a beach bag of some lover of the sea, and images of homes
and homes galore. And this month in their fifteenth anniversary issue I
found this you guys...
It's the house that Jack built, Jack
Johnson that is, and okay so maybe he didn't actually build it but he made it
into his home and I am inspired to live by the sea or where ever the heck life
may plant me this time around.
Doesn't it look like such an easy place
to be, that Jack's house.
You know if he invited me
over I wouldn't say no and I would certainly extend the invitation to you all,
'cause I'm sure he would've meant me and all of my two hundred and eighty
bloggy friends when he casually saw me and the boys at the post office and said,
"hey, you should come over some time", I mean in my dream mind that
would be totally possible, ya know?
Oh and I do think this whole week of
posts was just so meant to be in the most silly of ways, 'cause, you guys look,
hanging right there above the piano where I imagine Jack and Kim and the kiddos
having a cheesy little family sing-along well that is the very same lamp that
hung over the writing table in our room at Turtle Bay Resort last week.
The very table where I made tuna salad
sandwiches and served them up for the boys on paper plates with apple slices
from home, 'cause yes we went to Turtle Bay, and yes we are a family with young
children on a budget and tuna in the hotel room after the pool will do just
fine for a Saturday afternoon lunch. Do you think maybe Jack sneaks a
Ziploc container of tuna salad in to his room at Turtle Bay for his kiddos?
And do you think maybe he serves it on whole wheat and says "dude,
I'm not making anything else so eat it or well, starve"? Oh, who am
I kidding, right? But oh those two twin lamps how very serendipitous,
whatever that means, don't ya think?
So there you have it the rounding off
of our oh, so very serendipitous week, thank you Horace
Walpole for making up such a perfectly suited word for our week of
happy coincidences.
I'm off to check the mail with little
Seanzy and perhaps I'll linger a bit to see if Jack shows up, 'cause you know
when the air is filled with serendipity, well, you should just go with it. Oh
yes, we will be the two weirdos opening and closing our empty P.O. box to
disguise the fact that we are well, waiting, and waiting, and waiting and...
As I wait for that invite from Jack
I'll be listening to this...
You can listen to it and wait with me,
if ya like. Sorry, no guarantees you won't be branded with the big
"w" for weirdo, but I assure you you'll be in the most wonderful of
weirdo company--seriously watch the video and giggle weird little giggles along
with me, if you please.
I've gotta run... gotta "pitter
patter" on Jack's window, ya know?
live sweet,
n

About that house keeping...
This Saturday will be our first ever glimpse in to a beach bag of a lover of the sea--little ole me.
I hope you'll stop by and take a look and perhaps snag a good idea or two for what to stick in your beach bag.
And, if you are a blogger who loves the sea, or just a really cool person who is in to the beach and sun and surf or summer or whatever and would like to share a peek in to your beach bag I'd love to feature ya. Feel free to check out the post Saturday and email me if you would like to participate.
Unfortunately, there are only so many weeks in one summer so the "feature" slots may fill up fast.

I will definitely be visiting him with you!! I hope he doesn't reconsider the invitation he is about to make us because he catches you peeking into his window! xx
ReplyDeleteYay us... now just to score that invite. Oh, do you think the peeking is a little too freaky-- perhaps just a tad? =)
