You're gonna love me for this, I just know it.
I know it 'cause I love ya and that's why I'm sharing it and I truly believe Aloha begets Aloha...
Oh, oh, oh... and also I'm pretty sure that if I help get ya outta the kitchen and in to the fun this weekend whether it be on a hunt for pastel colored Easter Eggs, or to the beach for sun and surf-- well...
I'm pretty sure that if I can do that you'll just wanna kiss me.
So, I'll just be over here puckering up while you grab these simple ingredients for
Godiva Shoppe-esque Fruit Skewers.
Godiva Shoppe-esque Fruit Skewers.
Ingredients:
Fresh Strawberries
Fresh Bananas
Wooden Skewers
Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
This isn't so much a recipe as it is a "You Can Do It" cheer, and a list of supplies.
(consider me your personal cheerleader)
(consider me your personal cheerleader)
Just a quick note: Any skewers will do for this, however flattened bamboo skewers are best, and, well, they are the kind used in the Godiva Shoppe where these bad boys sell for like, eight dollars each.
And... most importantly they sell these skewers at Price Busters, Kailua, sometimes, and Safeway, most times.
Step 1: Slice each banana into pieces about one and a half inch long.
Slice each strawberry into five thinly sliced pieces.
Step 2: Slide a strawberry on to a skewer starting with the top and alternating with banana pieces until you reach the tip of the strawberry.
Step 3: Melt chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl for 2 minutes (or as needed) at medium heat. Remove bowl and stir chocolate every minute to distribute heat.
Keep a close eye on this, chocolate is pretty sensitive and microwave ovens vary.
Step 4: Using a fork or spoon drizzle chocolate over fruit skewers.
If you're feeling oh-so Godiva-ish you could hold the skewer up over a bowl and drizzle chocolate on all sides of the fruit skewers.
Or you could lay all the skewers down on the tray you are planning to serve these from, drizzle chocolate over the entire platter, place it in the fridge to set and head out for a quick surf session before the Easter egg hunt begins.

Looks good!!
ReplyDeleteIt really is sooo good-- just like the ones at Godiva in Alamoana Shopping Center. But, mostly it's soooooo easy and sure to get lots of "oohs" and "ahhs".
ReplyDeleteNicole, these look delicious!!! Just made me super hungry. What makes it even better is it's fresh and home made so you don't have to worry about preservatives or any of the added sugar other places use. Win win!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
ReplyDeleteAnd... sometimes, as a surprise for the boys I'll make a tray of these and keep them in the fridge as an after school snack-- so easy, so fresh, so yummy, so healthy?--well kinda sorta on that one but considering how much processed sugar is in keiki snacks these days I'll take a banana/ strawberry combo with some drizzled chocolate.

n
Good idea. Healthy and yummy!
